What We Do

Our Mission & History

The organization began as the NPO Ochi Fund, established with an endowment by Kiyoaki Ochi, former chief secretary of Hokkaido Teachers Union and chairman of Sapporo Labor Union Council, who passed away in 1997. According to his will, aimed at supporting activities of nonprofits, the NPO Promotion Committee Hokkaido established this fund in 1999, which was legally changed to Hokkaido NPO Ochi Fund, in December 2002.

From 1999 to 2010, we have provided financial support to 336 nonprofits with grants totaling 21,500,000 JPY.

For a Broad Range of Support

We changed the name to HNPOF in March 2011 in order to be flexible in meeting a variety of financial needs for community activities.
